Ramone Embraces Autonomous Technology

Automation equipment manufacturer RCT joined forces with Northern Star Mining Services (NSMS) earlier this year, resulting in the integration of digital control technology into two underground loaders at Ramone as well as the commissioning of RCT’s Control Master Automation Centre.

Operators at the site are now able to use the surface Automation Centre to operate two Sandvik LH517i underground loaders, which promises to boost productivity and safety.

RCT account manager Scott Phillips said “Our digital automation technology will provide the Ramone operation with every advantage to mine safely, efficiently and continue to make solid advancements for years to come,” he said.

This successful roll out at Ramone, builds upon RCT’s history of automating NSMS’ underground mining fleets across the Kalgoorlie and Yandal regions. By embracing digital autonomous technology, NSMS sets a precedent for innovative mining practices that prioritise productivity and, above all, the safety of its workforce.
