The Mt Charlotte underground mine has been in operation since 1963 and was one of the first mines to introduce mechanised mining. NSMS took over underground operations in November 2020. MTC utilises a combination of sub-level caving, and long hole stoping. We are currently developing both accesses for remnant mining platforms and developing new mining fronts in Little Wonder, Fairplay and Mt Ferrum.

I have been fortunate enough to work with some great Managers at NSMS who have encouraged and supported me through my career, from the early stages to where I am now, as an Underground Shift Supervisor. I enjoy working with my crew, listening to their ideas, and seeing the excitement it gives them when they get to develop their own skills from it.
